Introducing the Uusi Ranka Pilates, a three-session intensive Pilates training program designed to promote spine health. The program focuses on the structural coherence of the body by engaging in full-body awareness. This improves strength and flexibility and promotes overall body mobility and wellbeing. Whether you have been walking for hours, gardening, sailing, or doing housework, this training will soothe the body and prepare it for the next adventure.
Pilates’ method develops the body and mind in communion. We will delve deep into the principles of the technique and the key anatomical functions involved in the practice. The exercise becomes more effective, deep, and satisfying when the mind and body work together. Armed with these tools, the participants will be able to exercise on their own safely and effectively using the program’s routine.
We will use resistance bands, adding diversity to the exercises and aiding in better execution and strength development. All participants need to bring is a yoga mat, comfortable clothing, and a water bottle. The bands will be provided. All types of bodies are celebrated and welcomed.

TESTIMONIALS
“I attended Mercedes’ classes for two semesters. It was a great experience and I’m very satisfied. I became more aware of my body, my breathing and I was able to train my concentration. I have noticed an improvement my muscle mass and have been able to gradually increase the intensity of the exercises. I am looking forward to the next classes!” – Tea Andreaoletti
“This class was perfect for energizing and strengthening the mind and the body! As a Pilates newbie, I really appreciated how personalized the practice felt. The small group sizes and Mercedes’ energy created a friendly atmosphere and a good pace. Simply put, I left every class with a smile and looking forward to the next!” – Eva
“Mercedes’ gives clear instructions, takes tender care of everyone in the room, is available, answers questions when they come up. Pilates seems so easy (and it is), but surprises me in its intensity. A wonderful tool to enhance body awareness and feeling the difference in how movement is done.” – Lisa W.
ABOUT ME
My name is Mercedes Balarezo, and I am a dance artist and pedagogue from Ecuador. During my contemporary dance training, I suffered from intense lower back pains caused by a condition in my spine. Later on, due to overtraining, I also had a debilitating injury in my hips, which was exacerbated by the lack of strength in my deep core muscles. About 15 years ago, I began serious Pilates training at my professional dance school in Mexico, which helped me develop protective strength and awareness in my whole body. Since then, I have enjoyed 15 pain-free years. I have been leading Pilates training sessions for over 10 years now, and my recent experience of becoming a mother has given me new insights into the human body, recovery, and alignment. I am certified as a Pilates instructor by Reformer Pilates in Argentina and hold a master’s degree in dance pedagogy from the University of the Arts in Helsinki. Movement is not just my job, but also my passion. If you want to learn more about my artistic and pedagogical experience, please visit my website.
Warmly,
Mercedes
